The Missoula Phoenix semi-professional American football franchise was born out of a desire to provide local football athletes a chance to play beyond high school and college levels. Football has a massive following in Montana, and semi-pro ball offered community athletes a high-intensity, structured league to compete in.
As owner, Michael's task was to ensure the team had the gear, insurance, venue, and support to operate safely. They organized games that drew fans during the summer off-season, offering affordable football entertainment for Missoula families and providing a competitive showcase for local athletes.
The Phoenix franchise represented a bold experiment in regional sports ownership. Although it remains a legacy project today, it stands as a proud chapter in Michael and Kiomi's effort to diversify local athletics and support athletic programs throughout western Montana.
